I just added a new full text search on WWWCoder.com. There are some pretty nice features: Ability to do full text searching on News, Articles, Podcasts, Weblogs, and Sites. For example, say you want to search all weblogs for any podcast attachments, you can type in type:audio and it will return any audio attachments to the blog entry. You can also type in type:video for any video attachments. Remember to make sure you're searching the correct catalog as podcasts and video are only available in the weblogs catalog. There are other special tags you can search on to restrict your search: title:keyword(s) - Search just the text in the title of the weblog entry. url:keyword(s) - Search just the URL of the weblog entry. siteurl:keyword(s) - The main URL of the weblog site, for example: blogs.wwwcoder.com sitetitle:keyword(s) - The title of the site. description:keyword(s) - Restrict your search to the description of the site. cat:wwwcoder category - This could be any of the category names on WWWCoder.com for example: Gridview, Communities, Books, etc. type:audio or video - Search weblogs with only video or audio attachments. Since Lucene.NET does power the engine you can conduct various combinations of searches using boolean phrases, for example: type:audio AND Ajax You can use quotations around your query for searching on an exact phrase or combine various queries. And all queries can be exported and saved to read in your favorite aggregator. The new engine should provide the .NET development community with an easy means of searching all the available resources and weblogs. Make sure you submit your resource today! |
